HOW-TO: Jewelry Care

Well-crafted necklaces are a smart investment every woman should make. But like any investment, you need to properly protect and care for them, especially when the elements and your daily commute are conspiring to turn your Statement Necklace into something that is everything but a statement!

Today I’ll show you a few easy, quick and simple care technique videos that will keep your VeruDesigns necklaces in top shape, no matter whether you have a Flora-Inspired statement necklace, shards, shells, or beads.

TOOLS AND DO’S

1. Storage: You’ll need a jewelry bag or jewelry box, or even better, a jewelry storage unit.  Some of our jewelry comes with its own hand-sown jewelry bag. Make sure to store your necklace back into its bag after you’re done wearing it for the day. Your necklace will eternally be thankful for it.

• Why? Your bag/box or storage unit keeps your jewelry from dust, which is its #1 enemy. Dust is particularly damaging for polymer, and simply storing your jewelry will keep most of it at bay.
• Sunlight: Direct sun exposure can diminish the vibrance of your necklace’s colors. So try keeping your jewelry away from direct sun light. The good news is that it takes at least 5 years of constant sun-exposure for this to begin being noticeable.

2. Cleansing/dusting:  Once (to twice a year at the most!), you should give your jewelry pieces a quick “bath” to remove any accumulated dust or dirt that may have attached itself to its surfaces. For this, you’ll need: A bit of clean water and a few Q-Tips.

After dipping your Q-tip into clean water, gently wash the surface of your necklace. This simple process can be applied to any VeruDesigns necklace no matter what kind of design you have. See the brief video below:

FLORA-INSPIRED NECKLACES – HANDLING: DO’S AND DON’TS

If you own one of our beautiful Flora-Inspired necklaces (Bridal necklaces), you already know that as delicate as they look, they are quite strong and easy to handle. Those of you who wonder, I can assure you they are also very light and comfortable to wear. These are my two basic handling tips:

• – Hold they necklace from its center. However don’t be afraid to touch its details. It can handle it. Always grab it with your hand keeping your thumb on the middle front section, while all remaining 4 fingers support the flat and smooth back section of the necklace.
• – Avoid holding its weight by any of the smaller details (a leave, a flower, etc).
