Articulating myself and VeruDesigns
Hello beautiful!!
Today is not only a very very personal post, but also magical and uniquely special for me.
Yesterday, my little company VeruDesigns was featured as part of the second season of the emmy-award winning TV show “ARTICULATE with Jim Cotter” (nation-wide).
Why is this magical? Because (as only my very closest friends know), “ARTICULATE with Jim Cotter” is not only my favorite TV show. It’s the ONLY show I watch since 2016. I cannot explain how shocking it felt to be featured in your own favorite TV show. By the way, the “how this happened” is the magical part…it just did! It’s one of the many unexpected consequences of utter persistence and consistency in sharing my work. There are no guarantees with persistence. But when things like these happen, you realize it is all worth it.
If you’re not familiar with the show, ARTICULATE with Jim Cotter is one of the very few TV shows that runs nation-wide while focusing exclusively on Artists and Art from a very human perspective. This is probably why I love this show so much. It demystifies the Artist by revealing his/her humanity. The artforms and artists that are featured, cover the full spectrum of creative expression, but of course the quality of the show (and its multiple Emmy Awards) are a result of the carefully chosen artists that are featured, most of them with a long history of accomplishments, which is why it was a COMPLETE SHOCK when I received an invitation to be part of SEASON II.
As with all their episodes, Jim Cotter focuses on the human, the Soul behind the Art and the Artist. As their slogan says “Stories from where life meets art”.
My interview was no exception.
I hope you enjoy it. 🙂
- NOTE: When you CLICK on the image below, you’ll be re-directed to ARTICULATE’s episode video on their website. This episode will be coming out on TV as well (more details on that very soon!) In the meantime, after watching the video make sure to come back to this post to see the super cute jewelry reveal further below!
If you watched the whole thing, this is the necklace that was referenced during the interview (the very first “serious” necklace I created), inspired by a dream with my now deceased brother:
Let me share a bit of what happened before the interview.
Yes. I was shocked and very excited. But then, all my old insecurities came out all at once!
Am I good enough for this show? Will they be disappointed when they meet me? I’m not a “real” artist! Why did they choose me?! Is this right?!
Yep! My ego had a lengthy guilt and fear party in my head.
But after a day or two, I remembered that:
The small negative voice in our heads, the ego, never tells the truth. It’s the part in us that sees the world in terms of “better than” or “worse than”. It lives through the energy of comparison. And it likes to fuel a sense of superiority, or, equally sad, inferiority. I don’t know if we can ever completely rid ourselves from it. But even if not, I know that our awareness of this is enough to regain a more centered and truthful perspective.
So. All I know is that I’m deeply grateful. That is all.
Alright!
That was PART 1 of today’s post. Thank you for watching it, or planning to watch it later 🙂
PART 2:
Today’s jewelry reveal goes back to one of my favorite spontaneous jewelry pieces I LOVE TO MAKE: VeruDesigns TINY SHOE-EARRINGS!
- Unfortunately I cannot share with you any of the custom jewelry I’ve been creating for my clients recently. They’re all holiday gifts, and are meant to be a surprise for the recipients and them alone. So, today’s reveal is one of the very few pieces I created very recently during an early Saturday, for myself!
Over the last 3 years my shoe of choice has been New Balance for Jcrew. I’ve formed a small little collection that I wear every day. They are not only very comfortable, but they come in the most BEAUTIFUL color combinations you can imagine.
Today’s earrings are super tiny tribute earrings inspired by this particular model of NB for Jcrew shoes, (see below). The earrings are only 1.7cm long (0.65 inches).
Have a look 🙂
The second and final thought I wanted to share with anyone struggling with feeling inspired, is the idea of considering exploring and expanding your creative muscles by doing something DIFFERENT. This has been enormously invigorating for my creative energy.
What do I mean? Well, the last few weeks I’ve been waking up fairly early to PAINT.
That’s right. To paint. I’m not a trained painter (at all!). But I’ve been enjoying exploring different styles of painting (based on several artists I admire as inspiration), and grabbing some pencils/brushes, acrylic colors and canvases to see what happens. These are my first 4 paintings of the last month. During one of those early painting mornings I came across a beautiful (and PERFECT) quote by the amazing Marie Forleo, articulating perfectly why painting (in my case) has been so positive for my art jewelry.
Oh! In case you wonder how the earrings look, this will give you an idea of their size and proportion in my face:
And that is it!
If you enjoyed the interview, I would love to hear from you in the comments section below. What did you like the most? What would’ve you liked to hear more of?
And if you really would like to support small artist like myself, and most importantly, the journalist who are choosing to create a space for the arts in television, PLEASE SHARE this post, or the video! It is only through your support that small artists have a chance anymore. With the many changes that are being made to the algorithms in facebook and instagram, it’s become even harder to reach people who may resonate with our art. Art is one of the few left languages that unifies us as people, especially during these divisive times.
So yes, your support is crucial.
Thank you so much in advance.
Stay well, stay happy and stay healthy. And I’ll be in touch in a month!

Such a wonderful and deep interview. Thanks for your honesty. I loved seeing a picture of your beautiful brother. You deserve coverage like this and I hope it continues. You are making the world a more beautiful place through your work and your Love. Best of luck to you!
LOL, I just realized the pic is of my husband! I’ve been doing some work for him…I’ll have to figure that one out ;-D
Tracey! Wow! How does one say thank you to such a beautiful message like that?! Thank you very much. Gracias. I’m so grateful that you perceive the best of me in this way. I’ll do my best to continue deserving your support. It’s because of you, and those who support the arts, the the little guys like me get a chance! Much love <3
Also! Thank you for clarifying the pic is that of your husband! haha. I assumed you were a female, so seeing his picture was a surprise!
Wonderful. As usual you are an inspiration. I’ve always been influenced by your fantastic designs and works of art. Thank you so much. A certainly congratulations.
Dearest Lise! Even though we haven’t met, I always think of you when I’m about to post a new blog. You’ve been such an unconditional supporter. My appreciation for you is more than I can say. Thank you. We’re all in this together 🙂
Dear Veruschka,
Congratulations! Your TV debut was wonderful. I loved hearing about the start of your business and especially about your brother and your native country. The closest I’ve ever been to Bolivia is Lake Titicaca on the Peru side, but I do know what you mean about the landscape.
By the way, everyone is nervous speaking to the camera or in public. But you’ve now demonstrated beautifully that you can do it and do it well. Time to “check that off the list” and erase the self-doubt.
A pleasure to see you this morning.
Thank you so much! I don’t think being on camera is ever easy. If it looks like I’m at ease in any way the credit goes to the host, Jim Cotter. He has the incredible ability to make you feel very comfortable. Thank you for your support Mary 🙂
Hey Vee – Wow – another wonderful accomplishment. The interview was great! So happy for you and all that you are working on! Inspirational!!! Love Becks
Thanks so much Becks! I so appreciate your support, especially because you’ve seen me from the very beginning. Thank you <3
Congratulations. Great interview! And so honest and beautiful. You are a beautiful human artist. Very happy to be one of your supporters.
You’re too kind. Thank you Mary 🙂
Wow! how wonderful is that! Good for you, but not surprising at all. I loved the interview. I didn’t know about your brother, and I also didn’t know you were not raised in the US. And I’m like you. Color shifts me!
Thank you so much Claudia!
Congratulations Veruschka! SO DESERVED! I admire your work so very much, and I admire the person you are as well, even though we haven’t met! Very excited for you!
Always a gift to hear from you Joanne. Thank you!
Kudos to you, Vee! It’s wonderful that you and your art were chosen to be featured on this show…and your interview was impeccable. Good on you for folllowing your heart’s desire. It was interesting to hear the differences between the two countries’ support for artists – you are in the right place! Looking forward to seeing more of your work in both two and three dimensions!
Thank you so much Peg! As a fellow artist I so appreciate your kindness and support. I’ve been enjoying your art as well! Very very much so.
