I need your guidance!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!
It seems such a long time since we last connected.
It’s been busy my friends. Very busy. Both, my personal and professional lives have been going through an intense period of activity (much more on this in my next love letter to you!).
Today however, I’m here to ask for your guidance. Your thoughts.
I’m in the early stages of working on a whole new jewelry collection of statement necklaces, earrings and bracelets (each with a different shape/design) but with a common, unifying theme, for an upcoming event. There are 3 different ideas I’ve been exploring for this new collection. To be honest, I’m curious about exploring all 3 of them, and haven’t been able to decide which to pursue for this particular collection. Each idea is based on a very different inspiration, but they all have great potential!
I would absolutely love it if you could have a look at these 3 IDEAS (along with one sample necklace for each), and tell me which one resonates with you the most and why.
IDEA #1: Water Color & Oil Abstract paintings
This is not the first time I’ve created jewelry whose color combinations and texture emulates this very particular kind of water color and oil “paint stroke” of abstract paintings. The idea behind this collection would be to create different designs and sizes of necklaces, earrings and bracelets that share this kind of color texture on its flat surfaces. This necklace is just an example:
IDEA #2: Organic Multi-Layered Surfaces
The main inspirational elements for this collection, would be the shapes and textures of leaves, fungus, feathers, fabrics and other nature-inspired elements with lots of dramatic layers. The goal is to create individual jewelry pieces of different sizes and designs, but all with complex multi-layered structures with a very organic look and feel.
This particular necklace was inspired by layers of tree fungus I found close to our mountain cabin, and feathers.
IDEA #3: Scandinavian 3D Compositions
If you love Scandinavian design, then this might be your favorite idea of the 3!
The main inspirational elements I’m looking to incorporate into a potential jewelry collection, are the beautiful bold solid colors (such as this turquoise/green), which serves as a “base” for adding 3D elements in contrasting solid colors that create a story and make each piece interesting to look at (and fun to wear of course!). The necklace below is just one design idea. I’m thinking about creating more complex versions as well as simple pieces as well.
What do you think? If you have a definite opinion I would LOOVE to read your thoughts. Please share in the comments section below! Your guidance will be incredibly meaningful .
If you’ve enjoyed this, or you have any questions or comments, let me know below and I’ll reply as quickly as I can (I’d love to know!).
Stay well, stay happy and stay healthy. And let us all have a fantastic summerl!!

Well first off let me say that everything you design is incredible. It’s difficult for me to choose , that being said I believe that bigger is better and more is magnificent.
The lady bugs are all so colorful I would want all of them.
Maybe a clip style of the ladybugs could be added or taken off a necklace , that way one would get all of the ladybugs!
In my opinion you can’t go wrong with either option!
My favorite are the greens, inspired by Dior, the fungus and feathers! Go figure it would like the earthy ones.
I love the abstract necklace #1. It’s colorful and would go with anything any time of year.
Thank you Joan!
I love all the ideas. I am most drawn to the dior?/fungus theme. It probably reflects my preference for green and for curvy lines. I appreciate you asking for feedback.
Thank YOU Marsha! It seems that the organic nature of the fungus themed necklace resonate quite a bit. Nature is just the most imperfectly perfect creation.
They are all great!
But for me 1 and 3 stand out for different reasons. If I am forced to choose between these 2, I would go for No 1.
It’s asymmetrical (which always appeals to me), I love the colours and the fluidity with which they seem to ‘move’ together – quite dreamy
Hi Luisa! I LOVE your intuitive knowing of what you like! It’s the sort of clarity I crave at the moment. Thank you for articulating so wonderful the specifics of what draws you to necklace #1. This is VERY helpful!
I prefer #2. The more organic the better. Texture, color and movement in the piece. Beautiful blend of the shades of nature.
Thank you very much Mary. I love that color combination as well. 🙂
I love the freshness and innocence of #3…
Barb!! You are the FIRST one to have felt the resonance with this piece that I felt also! I’m SO SO happy you got that! Thank you 🙂
I like them all but my favorite is the first necklace with the abstracts.
Thank you mom!
I love Idea #2!! I think it is super different and something about the green (looks like a leaf that one leaves to dry) appealing to what change of season is bringing for us.
This is tough! I’d say Idea 1 or 3!
I like them all, but I think I would choose #2 because I like the colors and the organic look. You do beautiful work and I love that you model them too.
Thank you very much Cheryl! Number 2 was really fun to make. My husband and I travel for business quite a bit, which translates into me becoming the improvised model and my husband the 5-minute photographer. 🙂
Idea 3 is my fave! With Idea 1 a very close second. I’m sure your collection will be fab no matter what inspiration you choose!
Good morning Veruschka! I love idea # 3. I just think the potential is huge! And knowing how you tend to create and explore new ideas, I just would love to see what you come up with.
Thanks Joanne!
Idea #1 attracts my attention. Possibly the jewel tones is part of my selection.
Thanks so much Virginia! This has been my inclination as well. I so appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts 🙂
