Big and Beautiful: Colossal Beads are back!

If you’re one of our early supporters, then you may know that before VeruDesigns, there was “VeeBeads”.

That’s right, my little handmade couture jewelry world began with beads.

But not just any kind of bead. Veebeads were known to be gorgeous, light-weight, one-of-a-kind beads, that were quite large! Our colossal beads (which is how this particular design came to be known) became quickly not only my signature jewelry design, but what got me notoriety right away.

It has been a looong time since I last designed colossal bead necklaces. So, when an an order came in for a bunch of necklaces of this design, you can’t imagine how (unexpectedly!) happy I felt to have a reason for revisiting my roots. Especially after having experienced recently my first-ever “creativity drought“.

Unfortunately I wasn’t as diligent (as usual) in documenting all the necklaces before they were shipped to our clients, but I made sure to take a bunch of pictures of the 2 extra necklaces I made, that will be available for purchase soon enough 🙂

What do both necklaces have in common? Each single bead is a one-of-a-kind and is surprisingly light, with unique colorful patterns and is a little over 1.5 inches wide in diameter.

What makes them different? Everything else! From the inspiration idea, to the unique theme, patterns and chosen colors. Allow me to share a few more details.

Colossal Bead Necklace #1: African Delight
Necklace1b-Main

If you follow my works, it’s no surprise that, once again, african fabrics, patterns and colors were used as the main inspiration for this piece. (Click here for one of my past favorite african-inspired pieces!).

It would be a lie to say that I’m very familiarized with the amazing cultures in this continent. But regardless, like many of you, I can feel the joy, the radiance, the happiness of their people through their arts and fashion. Color to me, is one of the unspoken languages, that, like music, communicates emotions more powerfully than words ever will.

Colossal Bead Necklace #2: Summer Candy

Necklace2-Main

I wanted the second necklace to have completely different kinds of color patterns, yet still convey the same kind of lusciousness, joy and exuberance.

The summer candy necklace, was obviously inspired by the happy, vibrant colors of summer, and the fun and playfulness of candy patterns. I wanted the necklace to almost look eatable (if that makes any sense). It’s meant to convey a physical representation of how I like to feel inside and out.

What do you think?
