NEW Magazine Edition is out, and what 2015 has taught me so far.
It’s June and I can’t believe half of 2015 is already behind us!
In today’s blog, I wanted to stop for a moment, and highlight some of the most interesting pieces and events of this first half of the year here at VeruDesigns. This will be especially interesting for the many new friends that have only recently joined our family of subscribers (which has almost doubled over the last 6 months! THANK YOU!!!).
To celebrate, we just released our Special Highlight Magazine Edition, which you can enjoy further below.
But! For the sake of transparency, let me also share 3 of the biggest lessons I’ve been reminded of through some of the big changes we’ve made early this year, that have ultimately enabled all the good that has happened, and that you might be able to relate to in one way or another.
1. Changing cities and starting anew: Change is a paradox. At once, it’s uncomfortable and liberating. And the key for me has been taking control over which end of the stick I choose to embrace. Leaving Philadelphia meant moving away from the in-person contact I had with many of my most loyal clients, friends, family, business partners and network of peers and students. But what I quickly realized is that it doesn’t have to be that way. Instead of “leaving”, I feel we’ve simply created an opportunity to connect and get to know many new amazing people, while continuing to nurture our existing relationships. In other words:
Change doesn’t have to imply leaving or replacing something. It can be a simple expansion of something already amazing.
2. Trying new things in spite of fear: VeruDesigns had become known for our unconventional bold jewelry. And I love our pieces. But at the same time I’ve always loved simplicity. For a long time I felt I couldn’t allow myself to create simpler and more approachable jewelry. I only recently realized that I had been fearing to disappoint many of our fans who have become huge fans of our most complex jewelry pieces. But true growth only happens when we give ourselves permission to expand in whichever direction our hearts are guiding us to. Allowing myself to try something new has expanded VeruDesigns’ visibility to a whole new group of clients and partners that would’ve never been interested before. In other words:
Trying something new is never a “risk”. The worst that can happen is that we’ll further confirm the “right-ness” of our current path, and at its best we will expand it!
3. Being confident when you’re unknown again: Something that happens below the surface to our psyche is that, with recognition, growth, small and big successes, our “ego” LOOOOVES to get all proud and entitled. I haven’t been completely inmune to this. Starting anew in a brand new city, where no one knows VeruDesigns, no one knows me, no one knows the things we’ve done, or “accomplished” (like my ego likes to say), can be incredibly liberating. In my case, it allowed me to re-assess and remember where my confidence and sense of self-worth comes from. It’s not the recognition, the “successes”. It’s just me. With or without VeruDesigns. Just me and my intentions to become a better person and live my life to the fullest. That’s it. And it’s enough. Anything beyond that is just an experience. In other words:
Sometimes leaving behind whatever makes us feel “important” (or worthy), is exactly what will connect us to our true source of worthiness and confidence: Our true-self. Our kindness and openness to the world.

I loved the West Elm exhibit! You probably don’t remember me, but I’m one of the people that bought a necklace from you that day! Have been your fan ever since.
Congratulations on all the events and exhibits! So exciting for you, and you deserve it all. I’ve loved your jewelry since I found you.
So fun! Somehow I missed several of the magazine’s jewelry pieces whenever you revealed them earlier this year. Love it.
